This application note presents the operating theory of structured light systems, as well as the key components and design considerations.
Structured light systems speed up the measurement process by using a digital light pattern generator to display a known pattern of light onto the object, and a camera to capture the distortion of the pattern as it reflects from the object.
2 Structured Light Systems
Structured light systems consist of a digital light pattern generator and at least one synchronized camera as shown in Figure 2.
